Wealthy Gulf state with modern infrastructure and very low street crime. One of the safer countries in the region for tourists who respect local laws and customs.

November to March; summers are extremely hot.

Safety

Very low street crime and violent crime. The main risks are legal and cultural. Breaking local laws (especially around alcohol, dress, behavior, or criticism of the state) can lead to fines, detention, or deportation.

Recommendations

Dress modestly in public. Avoid public displays of affection. Do not criticize the government or royal family. Alcohol is only available in licensed hotels. Be respectful of Islamic customs, especially during Ramadan.

Health and tap water

Tap water: OK in major urban areas; caution elsewhere.

Excellent healthcare. Tap water is ok in most areas, prefer bottled. Very high medical standards.

Entry and exit

Visa on arrival or e-visa available for most nationalities. Efficient entry process.

Laws
