Very low street crime. The main risks are legal and cultural. Breaking local laws (especially around alcohol, dress, behavior, or criticism of the state/religion) can lead to severe penalties, including caning or imprisonment.

Dress modestly in public. Alcohol is banned. Avoid public criticism of the Sultan or Islam. Be respectful of Islamic customs. LGBTQ individuals should exercise extreme caution.
