Tiny landlocked microstate between Spain and France, known for its ski resorts, duty-free shopping, and beautiful Pyrenees mountains. Extremely safe and well-organized.

Best time to visit

December to March for skiing; June to September for hiking and mild town weather.

Safety

One of the safest places in Europe. Violent crime and petty theft are extremely rare. Very low risk overall.

Recommendations

Extremely safe country. Normal precautions are more than enough. Very easy to explore. Popular for skiing in winter and hiking in summer.

Tap water: Excellent — generally safe to drink from the tap.

Excellent healthcare. Tap water is safe and high quality.

Entry and exit

Visa-free for most up to 90 days in Schengen (as it follows the same rules as Spain and France).

Strict on drugs. Very low corruption and highly orderly society.

Other notes

Beautiful mountain scenery and good skiing. Duty-free shopping is a major draw. Can feel quite commercial in tourist areas. Excellent food with Catalan, French, and Spanish influences. Very high quality of life.
